This year will mark the 32nd anniversary of Seniors’ Month in Ontario and it is being celebrated in style – because Ontario Seniors’ deserve it.
In Centre Wellington, there will be a number of events taking place at the Victoria Park Seniors Centre in Fergus to promote healthy living and to raise awareness of the great events and opportunities taking place at the centre.
“Our mandate is to support active, healthy lifestyles for older adults through an extensive range of social, health, recreational and educational activities and programs” said Kathryn Morgan, supervisor of senior services.
“We offer a variety of programs at our centre, really there is something for everyone. Everyone is a part of this centre and makes it what it is today. We could not do it without our volunteers and members. Although Seniors’ month is June, we celebrate seniors every day”.
According to the Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat, the oldest age groups in Ontario are increasing in number faster than any others.
In 2017, Ontario will be home to more people over 65 than children 14 and under.
This shows the importance of this age group and how much they make a difference in our community.
Everyone is welcome to take part in the events taking place to celebrate Seniors’ Month.
Here are a few of the great things happening.
Make sure to visit Centre Wellington’s website at centrewellington.ca for a complete list of events and seminars.
